Carpet

Nothing looks like it, feels like it, or performs like it! Carpet is a key decorative and functional element in a home. Because carpet is the foundation of decorating, it can provide simplicity and casualness for softness and livability. It can also add an element of excitement with vibrant color and heavier textures for making a decorating “statement.” Carpet can be one of the easiest ways to personalize an environment – its color can be a neutral foundation “in the background,” or it can be a vibrant focal point.

Your Abbey Carpet & Floor showroom features exciting and proprietary Abbey Brands, including Alexander Smith, American Showcase, and Pet Defense.

In addition, when you visit our showroom, you’ll find a selection of carpets from a variety of leading manufacturers, bringing you the widest selection available.

Common Types of Fiber:

  • Nylon – Durable and resilient.
  • PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) – Inherently stain and fade-resistant, this fiber can be made from recycled plastics. It maintains good color clarity as well. Used in many Berbers, this fiber has excellent stain and fade resistance.
  • Wool – A natural and luxurious fiber.
  • Triexta – A synthetic carpet fiber made from polytrimethylene terephthalate, which has quality and durability.

Hardwood and Engineered Woods

Hardwood floors have come a long way in the past few years. Today, there are more styles, colors, and species of wood flooring available than ever before. No matter what your décor, you’re sure to find a color and style to fit your home at your Abbey Carpet and Floor showroom.

Hardest: Hickory, Pecan, Hard Maple, White Oak
Hard: White Ash, Beech, Red Oak, Yellow Birch, Green Ash, Black Walnut
Softer: Cherry, Mahogany, Pine

Solid wood flooring is made from one continuous piece of wood and is available in strips, planks, and parquet squares. Wood strips are anywhere from 1 ½” to about 2 ¼” wide. Planks are wider than 2 ¼”. Generally, a solid hardwood floor is a ¾” thick plank in narrow 2 ¼” strips. However, they can be manufactured in a variety of widths and thicknesses.

Solid flooring gives you a great opportunity for customization. Your choice of species, stains, and finishes all contribute to the personalization of a solid floor. You can get your wood floor either unfinished or prefinished. Unfinished flooring offers unlimited color stain options. Prefinished wood flooring features a factory-applied finish.

Because solid wood is sensitive to moisture, we do not recommend installing a solid wood floor below ground level or directly over a concrete slab. These floors are generally for nail-down installations only. Consult with the experts at Abbey Carpet and Floor to select the floor that is just right for you.

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic tile is a natural product made up of clay, minerals, and water. Ceramic tile comes in two forms—glazed and unglazed.

Porcelain Tile

They are denser and less porous than ceramic tile and highly resistant to moisture, stains, bacteria, odors, and even harsh cleaners. For homeowners, porcelain tile is especially resistant to staining, scratches, and fading and is available in both polished and matte finishes. Porcelain tiles also come in a wide variety of sizes, colors, and textures.

Natural Stone Tiles

These are products cut from solid stone blocks from stone quarries around the world. For this reason, no two pieces are exactly the same. A variety of sizes are available. Natural stone offers magnificent potential for use on floors or walls that will remain durable and aesthetically pleasing for a lifetime.

Laminate

If you love the look of real hardwood but are concerned with maintaining its appearance, there is an alternative. Laminate floors are beautiful, extremely durable, and easy to clean. It’s well suited for high-traffic areas, busy family kitchens, and homes with children and pets. Like hardwood, laminate is available in various widths and lengths and is less expensive than real wood.

Wood-look laminate flooring is made to look like wood, but the decorative layer is actually a photograph. Most laminates have four-ply construction: a backing or balancing layer, a moisture-resistant core of high or medium-density fiberboard, a decorative layer, and a wear-resistant layer of melamine resins.

Laminate flooring manufacturers use sophisticated, computerized technology to create realistic designs. Laminate floors are well protected by a tough outer coating that resists most stains, spills, burns and is extremely scratch-resistant. These floors come in planks and tiles and can be floated over most substrates, including concrete slabs and existing floor coverings.

Laminate is easy and quick to install because of its glueless installation. Laminate comes with a type of tongue and grooved locking system which “clicks” into position. All laminate floors require an underlayment that is installed directly underneath the laminate planks or tiles. This helps the floor float freely over the subfloor, adds a vapor barrier, and aids in noise reduction.

Evoke, InHaus, Armstrong, QuickStep, Mohawk, Kraus, and Pergo Elements.
